In November of 2002, Theatre Art Galleries proudly unveiled the Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery. Unique in High Point, Kaleidoscope features the Creation Station (pictured), an interactive artspace sponsored by Polo/Ralph Lauren. The Creation Station includes ready-to-use materials for visiting young artists and gallery-hoppers. Among the pedestals and cubes painted with tributes to classic art, Kaleidoscope’s do-it-yourself Shadow Theatre sparks the imagination of children and remains a popular attraction.
Year-round, Kaleidoscope serves as the face of TAG’s Youth Programs. On display throughout the year are the results of TAG’s community outreach programs such as TAG Into the Schools and Together Art Grows. During the Spring, Summer and Fall, Kaleidoscope comes alive with TAG’s art classes, camps and Saturday workshops. TAG has a proud history of offering dynamic instruction that captivates and challenges young artists.
Finally, Kaleidoscope acts as a perfect complement to TAG’s other galleries by featuring the best of art by local school-age children. One of Kaleidoscope’s annual highlights is Young Artists Among Us, a juried exhibit featuring the best work of local artists between the ages of 5 and 18 in public, private and home-schools.
